And so it begins...my first submission

Tonight was the adult session of Stake Conference, which is an opportunity for members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints who are all in the same area (stake) to meet and hear inspiration and motivation from our stake leaders. Tonight, as I was absorbing the messages shared, I thought about the book I'm writing and how I keep feeling promptings to keep writing. I thought about my fears. One thing that circulates around my brain is the big unknown publishing world, and then it occurred to me: "Why am I worrying about how to publish a book I haven't written?"

I found an LDS Writer's Market website a few weeks ago, so I went through it and found a publisher I felt matched my book, The Jungle Cat. I wrote this book eight years ago and it's based on a real story of my middle child and her experiences, (and my trials) of trying to get her to clean her room. And...

I sent it.

Ta da!

I read Stephen King's, On Writing Well, when I was in college and can still picture the large nail on the beam in his attic and the stack of rejection slips he acquired before publishing his first story. And then I remember how his mom bought some of his stories when he was younger - .50 for one of them. Maybe, if I can't get this book published, I can sell it to my mom.
